I first met the team of George Apap at the Dutchess County Fair last Summer. Soon after that meeting, they sent a consultant to my home for an estimate. I wanted the entire outside of my home re-stained and to have the large front and back decks repaired, sanded and re-stained. They also included the service of doing an exterior soft wash on the entire house. I found their price to be fair and reasonable and their quote was in the middle of the three quotes I received from other companies.
I asked them if they could postpone the project to the Spring with the understanding that the price might go up 6 months later. To my surprise they agreed to hold the price. Their project coordinator Leah reached out to me in February to get the job on their calendar. Leah was very professional, patient and easy to work with. She was in contact with me often to schedule each phase of the project. When it came to selecting colors, I was having some difficulties so Leah sent a color consultant to meet with me to review all of the options. Later that day Sean came by to walk through the project with me and review all of the details. Weather permitting, the project was finished on time and as promised.
I happen to have been out of town during the entire staining process so I did not get to meet Wayne and his team. I am sorry I didn't as when I returned I was extremely impressed with the care and meticulousness with which they executed the entire job. I would certainly have liked to thank them in person. I have heard many nightmare stories of painting contractors but my experience with George Apap was wonderful from start to finish. That is why I highly recommend them. One can certainly find a less expensive company to work with but you won't find a better one.

We are very pleased with the results of the cleaning job of our house siding and white trim under our gutters (which had a lot of gray/black on them). The north side of our house was particularly bad with a lot of green mold and looked wretched. Now all the siding and white trim look fantastic. Augusto and Joe were a great team -- they were personable and efficient and professional. They talked with us prior to starting the job and explained what they were going to do, and when they were done, they walked all around the house with us when we did our inspection. We are also happy with our earlier consultation with Patrick who first came to the house to look at the job and who gave us the quote. Because it had been several years since we had cleaned the siding (ourselves), we knew a professional team had to take care of it this time. We opted for the 3-year contract to keep the green mold and dirt away and will re-assess after that. Thank you Joe, Augusto, and George Apap!

Best workmanship and professionalism of any paintng and "all around" company. Each job gets an assigned "Project Manager" so communication lines are direct and expedited for the duration of the job.

Hardwood Floor Refinishing FAQs

Do I need to refinish my hardwood floors?

If your floors have deep scratches, discoloration, or have lost their original shine, refinishing can restore their beauty. It’s also a great choice before selling your home to boost its appeal.

What should I expect during the refinishing process?

Refinishing starts with sanding the floors down to bare wood to remove old stains and finish. From there, we apply a stain color of your choice—or keep it natural—and seal the surface with durable polyurethane.

Choosing the right stain depends on your space and preferences. Lighter stains can open small rooms, while deeper tones add warmth and richness to larger areas.

Do baseboards need to be removed to refinish hardwood floors?

Not usually. In most cases, baseboards can stay in place during refinishing. We take care to protect them throughout the process, and our team uses precision sanding tools to get a clean finish.

When can you mop after refinishing hardwood floors?

It’s best to wait at least 10 days before using a damp mop. This allows the finish to fully cure and protects your newly refinished hardwood floors from moisture damage.
